Gonzalo Higuain has insisted that he knows nothing about speculation linking the Napoli striker with a summer move to Barcelona.

The Argentina international has been a long-term target for the Gunners after Arsene Wenger missed out on the former Real Madrid striker last summer.

Me to Barcelona? I don’t know anything about it and I have nothing to say

The 26-year-old enjoyed a fruitful first season in Serie A following his £35m move to Naples, scoring 17 goals and making seven assists in 32 appearances.

Reports suggest that Barcelona are leading the race to sign Higuain, but the Argentina striker is in the dark on a potential move to the four-time European champions.

“Me to Barcelona? I don’t know anything about it and I have nothing to say,” Higuain said.

“Now I’m only thinking about the World Cup.”

Switching his focus to Argentina’s last-16 clash against Switzerland, Higuain added: “We must beware of Switzerland, the World Cup has already had surprises in store. We can’t underestimate them.

“Three of my Napoli teammates play for them and they will want to get through.

“Forwards need goals but they must also work for the team. It’s not an obsession, but I hope it comes soon.”
