Arsenal transfers: Gunners suffer major Mario Balotelli setback
Arsenal transfers: Mario Balotelli will not be leaving AC Milan this summer, says club's chief executive
Arsenal have been dealt a severe blow in their pursuit of Mario Balotelli after AC Milan ruled out selling the striker this summer.
The Gunners have been strongly linked with a big-money bid for the 23-year-old Italy international in recent weeks as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his attacking options in north London.
However, Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani says that there is no chance the former Manchester City forward will be leaving San Siro in the coming months.
“Balotelli will remain at Milan,” said Galliani following Italy’s World Cup exit.
“I don’t like that it seems as though the national team lost due to Balotelli. Italy lost for other reasons.
“Balotelli has been the only striker who scored, others didn’t have a shot on target.
“It’s not understood why people only talk about Balotelli, when the national team had a coach, technical staff and 22 other players.
“Let’s talk about the group. Now it seems the disappointment has been Balotelli. I don’t understand this and I prefer avoiding other comments.”
