Arsenal transfers: Gunners manager Arsene Wenger tells beIN Sport that Mario Balotelli link is "pure invention"
Arsene Wenger has described reports linking Arsenal with a swoop for Mario Balotelli as “pure invention”.
The Italy international has been heavily linked with a move to the north London side in recent weeks as Wenger seeks to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new season.
AC Milan striker Balotelli, who is believed to be valued at £23m by the San Siro outfit, scored 14 goals and made six assists in 30 Serie A appearances in the 2013/14 campaign.
Wenger, who signed a new three-year Arsenal deal last month, was speaking to beIN Sports in Brazil and the show’s producer confirmed the manager’s remarks on Twitter.

Earlier this month, Milan appeared to suggest that they are willing to sell the controversial Italy star.
“Balotelli is a great player,” said Milan director Barbara Berlusconi. “But nobody is irreplaceable. We will see what happens.”
