Arsenal transfers: Morgan Schneiderlin hints at Southampton exit
Arsenal transfers: Morgan Schneiderlin says he knows what he wants to do this summer mid reports of an exit
Morgan Schneiderlin has dropped a big hint that he intends to leave Southampton this summer.
The Saints midfielder is the latest player to be linked with a move away from St Mary’s after Rickie Lambert joined Liverpool in May and Luke Shaw completed a £31m move to Manchester United on Friday afternoon.
Everyone has ambitions, everyone has his own future in his hands, so we’ll see
Southampton manager Ronald Koeman, who replaced Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino this month, is also expected to lose Adam Lallana to the Reds and Schneiderlin is being linked with Arsenal and Tottenham.
The 24-year-old made his first World Cup start as France were 5-2 winners against Switzerland in their final Group E game – and Schneiderlin appears to have his heart set on a move away from the south coast this summer.
“Listen, I’m aware of Southampton’s situation,” Schneiderlin said.
“On a personal level, the club know my position and know what I want to do. I had a good conversation with all the directors.
“I’ve been there for a long time now. We’ll see how things go, but the directors know my position and what my intentions are.
“Everyone has ambitions, everyone has his own future in his hands, so we’ll see. Every player wants to play on big occasions.”
