Cameroon

Charles Itandje The former Liverpool goalkeeper conceded three goals and probably should have done better for Neymar’s second of the night. 6/10

Allan Nyom Had a decent game without being overly impressive for Cameroon. 6

Joel Matip Equalised for Cameroon but it wasn’t really his side’s day at all like much of the World Cup. 6

Nicolas Nkoulou Had a torrid time trying to keep the Brazil attack quiet and had a poor game doing it. 5

Henri Bedimo Cameroon’s left back wasn’t really involved in the game providing no real threat in an attacking sense and wasn’t comfortable defensively. 5

Eyong Enoh Yellow carded early on for a scissor tackle on Marcelo. Given a hard time all day on the trying to protect his back four. 5

Stephane M’Bia The midfielder was booked late on and didn’t have the best of games in a green shirt. 5

Landry N’Guemo The former Celtic loanee worked hard but wasn’t involved very often for the African side. 5

Benjamin Moukandjo As part of an attacking three to start the game for Cameroon he was up against it from the start and wasn’t involved very much. Replaced by Edgar Salli. 5

Maxim Choupo-Moting Hard working performance but Cameroon were on the back foot for so long that they had little attacking threat. Replaced by Jean Makoun. 5

Vincent Aboubakar Given a thankless task of trying to be an outlet for Cameroon, worked hard but not much came off for him. Replaced by Pierre Webo. 6

Substitutes

Edgar Salli Replaced Moukandjo but didn’t do much when he came on. 4

Jean Makoun Replaced Choupo-Moting as Cameroon changed their formation and worked hard with little reward. 5

Pierre Webo Worked hard when he came on, but like the starting attackers didn’t do much. 4

Brazil

Julio Cesar The QPR goalkeeper had little to do and had no chance with Cameroon’s goal as he was let down by his defence in front of him. 6

Dani Alves The attacking full back was his usual constant threat up the right hand side for Brazil but let himself down defensively. Turned too easily in the build up to Joel Matip’s equaliser for Cameroon. 6

Thiago Silva Like the whole Brazil defence, he was poor for Cameroon’s equaliser as he allowed the cross to go past him all too easily. 6

David Luiz Made mistake after mistake at the back, but was lucky that Cameroon weren’t good enough to punish him. 5

Marcelo Like Alves on the right, Marcelo was an attacking threat all night but the Real Madrid left back was equally poor in defence and allowed Matip to get a yard on him for his equaliser. 7

Luiz Gustavo The unsung hero in the Brazil team, Gustavo worked tirelessly in midfield and tackled hard to free up the more attacking players in the Brazil team to do what they do best. 7

Paulinho Another who protects the defence but unlike Gustavo, is also an attacking threat. He was unlucky not to score early on as his shot was blocked on the line after some great play by Neymar. Replaced by Fernandinho at half time. 6

Hulk Missed a sitter towards the end of the first half and again at the start of the second, and was rarely involved in anything good that happened for Brazil. Replaced by Ramires 4

Oscar The Chelsea star wasn’t as involved as he normally is, but was still a massive threat to Cameroon throughout. 7

Neymar (man of the match) Opened the scoring early on and put Brazil back in front with a great solo effort and as usual was a constant threat with his trickery that caused the Cameroon defence all sorts of problems. Replaced by Willian. 9

Fred Scored Brazil’s third goal of the night but was largely anonymous other than that. 7

Substitutes

Fernandinho Came on at half time and was fantastic in the Brazil midfield and popped up with the fourth goal of the game. 8

Ramires Replaced the ineffective Hulk, but wasn’t hugely effective himself but worked hard. 5

Willian Replaced Neymar towards the end of the game. 3
