Cesar Azpilicueta has expressed his delight at Chelsea’s signing of Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona.

The former Arsenal captain penned a five-year deal with the Blues last week after the Spanish club opted to sell the playmaker after three years at Camp Nou.

We have signed a great player who is going let us grow a lot collectively

Arsenal turned down the chance to bring the 27-year-old midfielder back to Emirates Stadium, and Fabregas’ Spain team-mate was thrilled to see the transfer go through.

“I have congratulated him and I am very happy because we have signed a great player who is going let us grow a lot collectively,” Azpilicueta told El Mundo.

“I haven’t had to tell him much about the Premier League because he knows English football perfectly.”

Fabregas scored eight goals and made 13 assists in 36 La Liga games for Barcelona last season.
