Chelsea transfers: Blues ‘want to keep Romelu Lukaku next season’
Chelsea transfers: The Blues are keen to keep Romelu Lukaku at Stamford Bridge next season, according to the striker's agent
Chelsea do not want to send Romelu Lukaku out on loan for another season, according to the striker’s agent.
The Belgium forward spent the last campaign at Everton, where he scored 15 goals and made six assists in 31 Premier League games for the Toffees.
The 21-year-old has been linked with a permanent switch to Goodison Park, as well as a move to Atletico Madrid in recent weeks.
However, Lukaku’s Italian representative, Oscar Darmiani Jr, says that Chelsea are keen to keep the forward at Stamford Bridge next season.
“Chelsea doesn’t want to loan him out. He has two years left on his contract and we would normally look at extending it shortly,” said Darmiani.
Speaking earlier this month, Lukaku gave little away when quizzed about his future.
“I’m not thinking about myself at the moment,” said Lukaku, who is under contract at Chelsea until 2016.
“I’m only thinking about Belgium. We have waited 12 years to be at a World Cup and I am only thinking about representing the team in the best manner possible.
“If we all do well, then it will be a benefit to all of us [in terms of possible transfers], but at the moment I am not thinking about my future. Not until after the World Cup.”
