Emmanuel Adebayor has hailed Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen as a “great talent” ahead of the new season.

Eriksen, who moved to White Hart Lane in an £11m deal from Ajax last summer, scored 10 goals in 36 Premier League appearances for the north London club despite Spurs enduring a difficult season.

The Denmark international is expected be a key part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans for the new campaign after the Argentine was appointed as Tim Sherwood’s successor last month.

And Adebayor, who scored 14 goals in 25 appearances in 2013/14, talked up Eriksen’s qualities and work ethic backed Eriksen to be even better next term.

“He’s a great talent and a great professional,” Adebayor told Tottenham’s website.

“He has great vision too. He trains hard every day, early in the morning does his gym work ready to train and before the game you can see how he prepares.

“His contribution this season has been unbelievable.

“It’s his first season in the Premier League and he will only get better next season.”
