David Moyes has praised the impact Brendan Rodgers has had at Liverpool since taking over at the club two years ago.

The Northern Irishman led the Reds to a second-place finish in the Premier League this season as the Merseyside club finished two points behind champions Manchester City.

And Moyes, who was sacked by Manchester United in April after 10 months in charge at Old Trafford, is delighted to see a fellow British manager given the chance at a top club.

“Brendan has come in and with the time he’s been given has been able to turn round Liverpool and I think it’s really important for British mangers that he’s done that,” Moyes is quoted as saying by ITV.

“Brendan was given the opportunity and because of that Liverpool have a good future.

“Tony Pulis also showed what our managers can do. I hope I’m not the end of British managers getting opportunities at the top.”
