England v Sri Lanka: Paul Farbrace heaps praise on Moeen Ali
England v Sri Lanka: Coach Paul Farbrace praises the hosts's attack after limiting the tourists to 413-7 on day three
Paul Farbrace praised England’s attack after Sri Lanka lost six wickets to finish day three of the first Test on 413-7.
Kumar Sangakkara scored his first ton at the home of English cricket to help the tourists go past the follow-on target of 376 for the loss of just four wickets.
For all of them to run in and bowl as consistently as they have done is fantastic for us
However, England improved in the evening session as Moeen Ali finally ousted Sangakkara, whilst Chris Jordan and Liam Plunkett both claimed scalps to halt Sri Lanka’s progress.
And England assistant coach Farbrace was satisfied with the hosts’s response in the final session to leave Alastair Cook’s men eyeing victory ahead of the fourth day at Lord’s.
“I think it has been a really good day for us,” Farbrace told ECB’s website.
“I think the bowlers have run in and hit the deck hard. There isn’t a great deal of response for the seam bowlers but I think for all of them to run in and bowl as consistently as they have done is fantastic for us.
“We’re in there saying we’ve had a good day. We’ve stuck to our task really well and I thought Moeen showed that he’s got real high-class promise.
“For him to get Sanga out today was a real bonus wicket for him. I think we’ve had a good day and we really stuck at it well.”
