Robbie Fowler believes the Liverpool players in Roy Hodgson’s England squad can have a great World Cup.

The Three Lions manager has included Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson, Daniel Sturridge, Glen Johnson and Raheem Sterling in his 23-man Three Lions squad.

The Reds were widely recognised as one of the Premier League’s best sides last season after being pipped to the title on the final day of the season.

And former England and Liverpool forward Folwer reckons the Reds players can shine in Brazil ahead of their opener against Italy on Saturday night.

“The Liverpool players can be fantastic at the World Cup,” Fowler told BBC Sport.

“They have played well all season, and if you can go into the World Cup and you are comfortable with your team-mates, that is a massive plus.”

Fowler added that experienced members of Hodgson’s squad, like Gerrard and Frank Lampard, will help mentor the young guns in the squad.

“You have the likes of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard who will help them.

“The experienced lads will maybe do everything quite steady and safe whereas the younger lads can express themselves that little bit more.”
