Liverpool transfers: ‘Barcelona close to signing Luis Suarez’
Liverpool transfers: Barcelona are closer than ever to signing Luis Suárez, according to Ramon Calderon
Luis Suarez could be set to leave Liverpool to join Barcelona this summer, according to former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon.
The Uruguay international’s future has been the subject of speculation in recent months despite the striker having penned a new deal with the Reds back in December.
It seems Barcelona are close to him, he is looking at going there
The biting scandal which has sparked controversy at the World Cup has further fuelled reports that the forward could be set to quit Anfield this summer.
And Calderon feels that the 27-year-old is now closer than ever to sealing a switch to the Catalan club.
“He is one of the best players in the world in his position,” Calderon told talkSPORT. “Both teams were interested in him.
“Real Madrid already have Karim Benzema at the moment and he’s also a very good striker. I don’t see any reason why they would change their strikers.
“It seems Barcelona are close to him, he is looking at going there.
“We also know he is close to Barcelona because his wife is from there and, I believe, his children were born there.
“Barcelona need him more than Real Madrid. They have Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Benzema. Barcelona need a player like him much more.”
