Pepe Reina admits that he is completely in the dark over his Liverpool future as he prepares to return to Anfield following his loan spell at Napoli.

The 31-year-old goalkeeper spent the season on loan to the Italian club and has been linked with a permanent switch to the Serie A side in recent weeks.

However, the Spaniard has revealed that he has not yet held talks with Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers about his future and is planning to return to Merseyside ahead of the new campaign.

“I’ve not spoken to Rodgers and I don’t know what they think but I have a contract and in the end that is what counts,” said Reina.

“I have to join up with Liverpool and there’s nothing more I can do. I don’t know about my future.

“I want to be calm about it and there are people who are working on that. I have two years left on my Liverpool contract and the situation is the same as a month ago.”
