Sebastian Coates has revealed that he is keen to leave Liverpool in search of regular first-team football.

The 23-year-old spent last season on loan to Nacional after failing to impress on Merseyside since arriving at the club in 2011.

And the Uruguay international says he wants to look to play elsewhere if he is not going to be given a chance to stake his claim for a regular starting spot with the Reds.

“I told Liverpool that I want to play and if I don’t have the chance there, it would make sense to look for another way,” Coates told The Guardian.

“I wouldn’t mind being loaned and continuing to play in the Premier League. I’d like to play in England.”
