Balotelli, Ferdinand and more: Twitter reacts as Uruguay beat England
Mario Balotelli and Rio Ferdinand both tweet their thoughts as England are beaten 2-1 by Uruguay at the World Cup
Luis Suarez left England on the brink of a World Cup exit as his two goals gave Uruguay a 2-1 victory in Sao Paulo on Thursday.
The Liverpool striker headed in a left-wing cross to put his side ahead in the 39th minute, but Wayne Rooney tapped home Glen Johnson’s low pass to make it 1-1 with 15 minutes left.
However, Suárez powered in the winner six minutes from time after latching on to a goal-kick to leave England bottom of Group D after Saturday’s opening loss to Italy.
Thursday’s big game inevitably prompted plenty of activity on Twitter – and here is the best of the post-match reaction.
