New Zealand v England: It’s now or never, declares Chris Robshaw

New Zealand v England: Chris Robshaw tells the Red Rose that it is "now or never" ahead of the third Test

Chris Robshaw insists it is “now or never” for his England colleagues if they are to secure a famous win over the All Blacks.

England have already lost the Steinlager Series after 20-15 and 28-27 defeats from the contests in Auckland and Dunedin respectively but, with the Red Rose not due to tour New Zealand any time soon, the England captain hopes to leave Hamilton having achieved something special.

We’ve still got an opportunity to do something special

“The guys are fully aware of what’s at stake,” said Robshaw. “A lot of us probably won’t get the opportunity to come here again as a touring party.

“It’s a long time away until England come here next so it’s now or never.

“We’ve still got an opportunity to do something special. The mentality we are taking into this game is that we want to leave the country having achieved something.”

History is against Stuart Lancaster’s side with England having won just twice in New Zealand—the last time being in 2003.

But the Harlequins flanker believes England have nothing to lose and can still finish on a high with a win over the world champions in front of a sell-out crowd at the Waikato Stadium.

“Early in the week guys were pretty low initially and rightly so,” he added.

“We came down here to achieve something special and that hasn’t happened, but we’ve picked ourselves back up. The series may be out of our hands but we can still finish on a high.

“We’ve very much got that backs-against-the-wall feeling, that desperation that we want to grab the win.

“You never like to lose, let alone two on the bounce to the same opposition, but we’ve got nothing to lose.”
