Guillermo Ochoa prevented Brazil from notching back-to-back Group A wins as Mexico held the hosts to a deserved goalless draw.

Barcelona forward Neymar was denied twice by the Mexico goalkeeper before Ochoa stuck out an instinctive hand to stop Thiago Silva’s late second-half header.

Twitter was quick to praise the goalkeeper, who will be a free agent in two weeks, and here is the best of the reaction in chronological order.

England legend Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) reveals one of the key rules of a prolific striker: “Rule number one: When you’re in goalscoring form don’t mess with your barnet @neymarjr”

In what would prove one of the Group A clash’s taking points, former Liverpool striker John Aldridge (@Realaldo474) is appalled by the Brazil right-back’s hair: “Can’t believe Daniel Alves has had a purple rinse?? Has to be a DIY job.”

England striker Daniel Sturridge (@D_Sturridge) is clearly loving life in Brazil as he watches the hosts: “It’s crazy I’m still a fan watching the World Cup even though I’m playing. Swear down I love my job…”

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler (@Robbie9Fowler) has renamed Brazil’s languid No9: “Was that Fred Flintstone in a suit?”

Former England goalkeeper David James (@jamosfoundation) feels Ochoa deserves more praise: “That was the best save in the World Cup so far by Ochoa, greeted with, ‘good height for a keeper’. #commentators”

Southampton icon Matt Le Tissier (@mattletiss7) heaps praise on the Mexico shot stopper: “This Ochoa bloke isn’t a bad keeper”

With the match heading towards a goalless draw, and Jamaican Jermaine Johnson (@DaRealJJ11) thinks Ochoa is the standout goalkeeper so far: “Mexico keeper is by far the best In the tournament”

Wigan shot stopper Mike Pollitt (@MikePollitt12) feels the soon-to-be free agent had a special 90 minutes: “Sometimes you can have one of them nights #goalkeeper #MexicoVsBrasil”

Finally, former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon (@LeeDixon2) congratulates the underdogs: “Well played Mexico.”
