Ledley King has urged England to capitalise on “rusty” Luis Suarez when Roy Hodgson’s men face Uruguay on Thursday.

The Three Lions are looking to bounce back from an opening Group D defeat by Italy on Saturday, with Uruguay searching for their first after a 3-1 loss to Costa Rica.

We all know what a top player he is but hopefully he is a bit rusty and hopefully England can capitalise on that

Liverpool striker Suarez, who scored 31 Premier League goals last season, is expected to line up against England after recovering from a knee operation.

Former Tottenham defender King, who won 21 England caps during his career, feels it is a very “winnable” game for Hodgson’s young side.

“I expected more from Uruguay [against Costa Rica]. Suarez coming back into the team is the only big difference,” King told Football Brasilia.

“We all know what a top player he is but hopefully he is a bit rusty and hopefully England can capitalise on that.

“England are a young team, it is important that the team don’t lose heart in the fact that it was a defeat, and still believe in themselves, because the Uruguay game is a winnable game for them.

“I would probably start with the same team, just get a little more tempo in England’s play.”
