Tottenham transfers: Inter Milan abandon Erik Lamela pursuit

Tottenham transfers: Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio admits the Serie A side won't be signing Erik Lamela

Inter Milan have conceded defeat in their attempts to sign Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Erik Lamela, says Piero Ausilio.

The Argentina international’s future has been a source of speculation in recent months after a disappointing, injury-hit season resulted in him making just three Premier League starts for the north London club.

Lamela made one assist in nine appearances in all competitions for Spurs in the 2013/14 campaign following his club-record £30m move to White Hart Lane from Roma last summer.

But Inter Milan sporting director Ausilio confirmed that the 2010 Champions League winners would not be saving the Argentina international from his Spurs nightmare.

“Lamela is a dream that we haven’t been given a chance to realise,” Ausilio told Gazzetta dello Sport. “Simply because Tottenham don’t want to put him in the market.”
