England to beat Uruguay – 5/1*

England must beat Uruguay on Thursday night to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive. The Three Lions suffered a valiant 2-1 loss to Italy in their opener, whilst Uruguay were soundly beaten 3-1 by Costa Rica. Luis Suarez won’t be 100 per cent for the Group D clash, and if England can replicate their attacking display against Italy, Roy Hodgson’s side should have enough. The Tipster is offering *new Paddy Power customers SPECIAL ODDS of 5/1 (currently 11/10) on England to beat Uruguay.

Sturridge to score any time in England v Uruguay – 13/8

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge hit the ground running in the World Cup as the 24-year-old scored his first goal of the tournament against Italy. Sturridge is fresh from his best-ever season the Premier League, scoring 21 goals in 29 appearances. He will relish the chance to come up against veteran Diego Lugano, too. The Tipster is backing Sturridge to score any time at 13/8.

Over 2.5 goals in England v Uruguay – 4/5

The Tipster is unsure whether the England defence will be good enough to keep out Edinson Cavani and a returning Suarez. He is expecting England to win, though. So, he is backing at least three goals in this Group D clash. The Three Lions played out a 2-1 loss to Italy in their opener, whilst Uruguay lost 3-1 to Costa Rica. The Tipster reckons over 2.5 goals at 4/5.

Colombia to beat Ivory Coast – 23/20

The CONCACAF and South American sides have been dominant in the World Cup so far, highlighted by Chile’s 2-0 victory over defending world champions Spain on Wednesday night. Colombia were emphatic 3-0 winners against Greece in their Group C opener and will look to book their place in the last 16 on Thursday evening. The Tipster fancies Colombia to adapt best to the conditions and beat Ivory Coast at 23/20.

The long shot: Cahill to score any time in England v Uruguay – 12/1

Hodgson, like Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, will look to utilise Steven Gerrard’s set-piece delivery. Indeed, the England captain’s ability to conjure wicked crosses from dead-ball situations could prove key. Gerrard had 13 assists from set-piece situations in the Premier League last season, linking up particularly well with Martin Skrtel. The Tipster reckons Gary Cahill will be the man on the end of Gerrard’s set-pieces during the World Cup – and his long shot is Cahill to score any time at 17/1.
