Abou Diaby hopeful of staying injury-free with Arsenal this season
Abou Diaby hopes he can stay injury-free this season as he looks to break back into the Arsenal first-team
Abou Diaby is crossing his fingers that he can stay injury-free this season as he looks to break back into the Arsenal first-team.
The French midfielder missed almost all of the 2013-14 campaign due to a persistent knee injury but played 45 minutes as the Gunners began their pre-season preparations with a 2-0 victory at Boreham Wood on Saturday afternoon.
I was really happy to be back in a normal game. I hope it’s going to stay like this
And the 28-year-old is hoping that he can continue his road to full fitness without any setbacks in the coming weeks.
“I haven’t done that [play 45 minutes] for one year so I was really happy to be back in a normal game. I hope it’s going to stay like this,” Diaby told Arsenal Player.
“Pre-season has been really good so far, we still have three weeks and I hope to complete 90 per cent of it and that will be a successful one for me.”
Diaby’s Arsenal career has been blighted by injuries, with the midfielder only managing 41 appearances in all competitions in the last four seasons.
