Arsenal inspired by World Cup heroes, says Aaron Ramsey

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey says the Gunners are drawing inspiration from their World Cup-winning team-mates

Aaron Ramsey says the Arsenal squad are drawing inspiration from their World Cup-winning team-mates ahead of the new season.

Germany trio Per Mertesacker, Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski were all part of Joachim Low’s side that won the World Cup in Brazil earlier this month courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Argentina.

It capped a decorated couple of months for Arsenal’s German contingent after a dramatic 3-2 extra-time win against Hull City in the FA Cup final at Wembley in May.

And Wales international Ramsey admitted the Gunners players have been inspired by the success of their team-mates as Arsene Wenger’s side gear up for the new season.

“What happened is fantastic for both them and the club,” Ramsey told Sky Sports News. “It means now we are all hungry to win things and we have the hunger to go on and get the same winning feeling.

“We want the same feeling after winning the FA Cup as well. There is always pressure on us to win, but we will be trying to win a few things this season.”
