Arsenal transfers: Arsene Wenger coy on Sami Khedira link
Arsenal transfers: Arsene Wenger give little away when quizzed about the speculation linking Sami Khedira with Gunners
Arsene Wenger refused to be drawn on the speculation linking Arsenal with a bid for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira.
The Gunners have been touted as a possible destination for the 27-year-old midfielder, who is entering the final year of his contract in Spain, as Wenger looks to bolster his squad ahead of the new campaign.
I can’t give you any names because you’re never sure that you can do what you want
But when asked directly about Khedira, Wenger replied: “Look, I can’t give you any names.
“What is good is that [Arsenal’s German internationals] won the World Cup so their confidence should be stronger.
“Winning makes you only stronger and more confident and hopefully we’ll benefit from that next season.”
Arsenal have so far brought in Alexis Sánchez and Mathieu Debuchy, but Wenger insists that he still has plenty of business to do ahead of the new season.
“I’m very happy with what I could do until now,” he said. “It’s not over, we still have a long way to go.
“I can’t give you any names because you’re never sure that you can do what you want, but we’re still out there to strengthen our squad.”
Wenger does, however, plan to sign a new goalkeeper following Lukasz Fabianski’s departure to Swansea City. “I will bring in a goalkeeper for sure,” he added.
