Arsenal are in “advanced talks” to sign Sami Khedira from Real Madrid, according to Stan Collymore.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with a move for the Germany international in recent days as Arsene Wenger looks to add to his midfield options at Emirates Stadium ahead of the new season.

Khedira, who is entering the final year of his contract at the Bernabeu, has rejected Real Madrid’s offer of a new deal and has his heart set on a £23m move to Arsenal, according to reports in Spain.

And talkSPORT broadcaster Collymore claims that a deal for the 27-year-old is now close after Arsenal signed Alexis Sánchez from Barcelona in a £35m deal last week.

Collymore tweeted: “Spoke to agent. Arsenal in advanced talks with Sami Khedira. F*** me, they’re getting serious.

“If Arsenal get Khedira, they win it. A great, great all round midfielder. The FA Cup parade has lit that Arsene fire again. Good to see.”

Khedira, who netted Germany’s fifth goal in their 7-1 World Cup demolition of Brazil, scored once and made one assist for Real Madrid in 13 La Liga appearances last season.
