Arsenal transfers: Gunners ‘set to announce signing of Mathieu Debuchy’
Arsenal transfers: Reports claim Gunners are on the verge of announcing the signing of Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle
Arsenal are on the verge of announcing the signing of Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle United, according to reports.
The France international right-back has been strongly linked with a transfer to Emirates Stadium this summer following following Bacary Sagna’s departure to Manchester City on a free transfer.
ESPN is reporting that Debuchy’s switch to the north London club is expected to be confirmed “imminently” as the Magpies close in on the signing of Feyenoord defender Daryl Janmaat.
Commenting on the speculation linking him with Arsenal earlier this month, the 28-year-old said: “Everyone is saying that, but nothing has been done.
“For the moment, we are discussing it. Arsenal are a great club. We’ll see what happens.”
Arsenal have already signed Alexis Sanchez in a £35m deal from Barcelona, and are also reported to have agreed a £19.8m fee with Real Madrid for midfielder Sami Khedira.
Debuchy scored one goal and made three assists in 29 Premier League appearances for Newcastle United last season.
