AC Milan are confident of keeping Mario Balotelli but remain interested in Arsenal striker Joel Campbell, according to AC Milan’s chief executive.

The Italy international has been linked with a move away from San Siro this summer, prompting reports Arsene Wenger could swoop for the striker.

Arsenal were reported to be ready to offer Costa Rica forward Campbell, who impressed at the World Cup in Brazil, as part of the deal to land Balotelli.

However Milan chief executive Galliani is certain that Balotelli will stay at the seven-time European champions, whilst confirming interest in Campbell and Torino striker Alessio Cerci.

“Balotelli never asked to be sold. He will stay at Milan. 100 per cent doesn’t exist on the transfer market, but 99.9 per cent does,” Galliani is quoted as saying.

“Alessio Cerci and Campbell? They have the characteristics our Coach likes, but so do many other players.”

Balotelli scored 14 goals in 30 Serie A appearances last season, whilst Campbell netted eight goals during a season-long loan at Olympiacos.
