Arsenal transfers: ‘Milan have competition for Alessio Cerci’
Arsenal transfers: Alessio Cerci is attracting interest from a number of clubs, according to the Torino president
AC Milan have competition for Arsenal target Alessio Cerci, according to Torino president Urbano Cairo.
The Italy international has been heavily linked with Premier League trio Arsenal, Everton and Manchester United, as well as Bundesliga runners-up Borussia Dortmund in recent weeks.
Cerci enjoyed a prolific season for Torino as he helped the northern Italian club book their spot in the Europa League, scoring 13 goals and making 10 assists in 37 appearances.
“Cerci? It’s not just Milan who are interested, but other teams too,” Cairo is quoted as saying. “However, I still want to keep him at Torino.
“I still need to find out what the player’s intentions are. We want to see whether there is a possibility of reaching an agreement with him or whether he is aiming for bigger clubs.
“We are playing in Europe next season, Milan are not.”
Cerci played a bit-part role in Italy’s doomed World Cup campaign, coming on as a substitute as Cesare Prandelli’s side suffered a 1-0 loss to Uruguay in their final Group D game.
