Arsene Wenger hails Arsenal’s signing of ‘quality’ Mathieu Debuchy
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists that Mathieu Debuchy is the right man to replace Bacary Sagna
Arsene Wenger insisted that Mathieu Debuchy is the right man to replace Bacary Sagna after Arsenal confirmed the signing of the defender from Newcastle United on a long-term contract.
The Gunners announced the capture of the 28-year-old France international for a fee of around £12m on Thursday following weeks of speculation linking him with the north London club.
He has shown he can perform at the highest level with his club sides and also for France
And Arsenal manager Wenger feels that Debuchy, who scored one goal and made three assists in 29 Premier League games for Newcastle last season, will fit in perfectly at Emirates Stadium.
“We are delighted to welcome Mathieu Debuchy to Arsenal Football Club,” said Wenger.
“He has shown he can perform at the highest level with his club sides and also for France.
“He is a quality defender who has good Premier League experience and I’m confident he will fit in very well with us.”
