Wenger delivers latest injury update on Arsenal’s Walcott
Theo Walcott is expected to return to full Arsenal training by the end of August, says Arsene Wenger
Theo Walcott is expected to return to full Arsenal training by the end of August, Arsene Wenger has revealed.
The England international has been sidelined since January and missed the World Cup after suffering a knee ligament injury and having to undergo surgery.
Once he’s back in full training it can be very quick. He has a good basis
Walcott, 25, is back in light pre-season training with the Gunners – and Wenger is hopeful that the forward will not miss too much of the new season.
“He’s progressing very well,” Wenger told Arsenal’s website.
“He’s worked very hard during the summer and we expect him to be back in full training at the end of August.”
Asked when Walcott is likely to get back in the team, Wenger added: “That’s difficult to predict.
“Once he’s back in full training it can be very quick. He has a good basis, which is what he’s working on now.”
Walcott scored five goals and made four assists in 13 Premier League games for Arsenal last season before suffering the knee injury against Tottenham Hotspur at the turn of the year.
