Eintracht Frankfurt coach Thomas Schaaf has confirmed that the Bundesliga club are no longer interested in signing Nicklas Bendtner.

The 26-year-old Denmark international is a free agent after being released by Arsenal this summer following a disappointing return to Emirates Stadium last season.

Bendtner has been touted as a target for Aston Villa in recent days – and Frankfurt have now revealed that they have pulled the plug on their interest in the striker.

“We will not continue with the negotiations,” Schaaf told Kicker. “So we will focus on other things.”

Bendtner scored two Premier League goals for Arsenal last season after being restricted to just one top-flight start for the Gunners.
