Brazil 1 Germany 7: Player ratings as Man United target impresses
Brazil 1 Germany 7: Player ratings as Manchester United target Toni Kroos helps mastermind rout
Brazil
Julio Cesar Could have done better with a couple of the goals and looked lost behind Luiz and Dante. 3/10
Maicon Three of the five goals came down his side and was bamboozled by the German attackers. His positioning was awful at times. 3
David Luiz Hopeless! He was nowhere to be seen as a defender or a captain as Germany ran riot. Lost his head and could have even seen a red card. 1
Dante Woeful, wasn’t picking men up and far too often Germany got in behind him. 2
Marcelo Looked absolutely lost as Germany surged forward time and time again. 4
Luis Gustavo Lost in the middle of the park in the first half, better when Brazil were going forward in the second. 4
Fernandinho Missed a key interception in the build up to the second goal and wasn’t giving the protection the defence needed. Subbed at half-time. 3
Bernard Anonymous in the first half but looked Brazil’s most dangerous player in the second half. 6
Oscar Didn’t look the same creative, exciting player he does at Chelsea. Oscar was more involved as Brazil pushed forward in the second half. Added a late consolation goal. 5
Hulk Very wasteful in possession and didn’t give his side the outlet they needed, subbed at half-time. 4
Fred Anonymous throughout the game and booed throughout the second half. Subbed with 20 minutes to go. 1
Substitutes
Paulinho Saw plenty of the ball and drove Brazil on in the second half. 5
Ramires Gave Brazil some energy in the second half. 5
Willian N/A
Germany
Manuel Neuer As solid as ever as Brazil drove on in the second half and pulled off some good saves. 7
Philipp Lahm As composed as ever at right-back. A straightforward semi-final for the Germany skipper. 7
Jerome Boateng Little to do as Germany dominated. Was irritated by Brazil’s cynical claims to win penalties. 6
Mats Hummels Untroubled as Germany ran riot in the first half, subbed at half-time. 6
Bendikt Howedes Largely comfortable even when Brazil attacked in the second-half. 6
Sami Khedira (Man of the match) Absolutely ran the show in the middle of the park, smart on the ball and drove forward at every opportunity. 9
Bastian Schweinsteiger Patient and calm in the centre of midfield and kept the game ticking over for Germany, did the simple things brilliantly. 9
Thomas Müller Found the space and finished well for the opening goal. Constantly wanting to get involved and linked up brilliantly. 9
Toni Kroos Scored two goals and put a great corner in for the opener. Always came up with an end product. 9
Mesut Ozil Probably his best game of the World Cup. Linked up the play throughout and gave Brazil plenty of headaches but should have added an eighth at the end. 8
Miroslav Klose Showed his poacher’s instinct to add the second and score his 17th World Cup goal to break Ronaldo’s record. Substituted with 30 minutes to go. 7
Substitutes
Per Mertesacker Looked as reliable as ever in the second half. 7
Andre Schurrle Scored two goals off the bench, the second of which was a great goal. 8
