Diego Simeone believes there is more to come from Diego Costa as the Chelsea striker nears the completion of his move to Stamford Bridge.

Earlier this week, the Blues confirmed that they had agreed a fee with Atletico Madrid to sign the Spain international after activating his reported £32m contract release clause.

I see a player very much on the way up and I’m sure he’ll be a success

Costa, 25, scored 27 goals in 35 La Liga appearances last season as the Brazilian-born forward helped los Rojiblancos win the La Liga crown and reach the Champions League final.

But Atletico manager Simeone warned Costa that he will need to settle quickly at the west London side as the controversial striker readies himself for his Premier League challenge.

“He’s at an age where he can continue to improve, so let’s hope he can develop further,” Simeone told

“He’ll have to adapt quickly to the system at Chelsea and to the coach, but let’s hope the team can take full advantage of his characteristics. I see a player very much on the way up and I’m sure he’ll be a success.”
