Emmanuel Adebayor: Tottenham’s target must be top-four finish
Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor says Spurs's target for the season must be a fourth-place finish
Emmanuel Adebayor has declared that Tottenham Hotspur’s target for the new season is a top-four finish.
The Spurs squad returned to pre-season training over the weekend under new manager Mauricio Pochettino, who replaced Tim Sherwood at White Hart Lane in May.
I want to help the team finish in the top four
Tottenham finished in sixth place last season, one place lower than their 2012/13 campaign, resulting in the manager’s dismissal and Pochettino’s recruitment.
And Adebayor, who scored 11 goals in 21 Premier League appearances last season, underlined his determination to help the north London club secure a return to the Champions League.
“Nothing is about personal, I play for Tottenham and we’re a team,” Adebayor told Tottenham’s website.
“So for me, our targets or objectives is to finish in the top four. I want to help the team finish in the top four.”
On his return to pre-season training, Adebayor added: “My summer was great. The most important thing is to come back and train. Going to start today and work hard.”
