Erik Lamela is determined to prove himself in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt next season.

The Argentina international’s future has been a source of speculation in recent months after a disappointing, injury-hit campaign resulted in him making just three Premier League starts for the north London club.

But Lamela, who joined Spurs in a club-record £30m deal from Roma last summer, is focused on enjoying a productive second season at White Hart Lane.

“I feel really good,” said Lamela. “I feel fit and I hope it will be a good season ahead.

“I hope to show everyone what I can do, especially for the fans and of course for the club.

“I’m grateful to the fans for their affection, that’s very important for me.

“Hopefully I will get the chance to play and then I will try and perform as well as I can.”
