Gareth Barry fully deserves Everton move, says Graham Stuart
Ex-Everton midfielder Graham Stuart feels Gareth Barry earned his Blues move after impressing during season-long loan
Gareth Barry fully deserves his Everton move after his pivotal performances on loan last season, according to Graham Stuart.
The 33-year-old England international signed a three-year deal with the Toffees on Tuesday after the midfielder’s contract expired at Manchester City.
I think the performances he has given have warranted the contract that he has been given
Barry spent the 2013/14 campaign on loan at Goodison Park, scoring three goals and making four assists in 32 Premier League appearances.
Former Toffees midfielder Stuart feels Barry’s stature and experience will benefit Roberto Martinez’s side moving forward next season.
“Every picture tells a story and I think clearly Gareth has liked what he has seen when he came here on loan,” Stuart told the Liverpool Echo.
“He has felt comfortable from the minute he arrived at the football club both on and off the pitch, which has been vitally important.
“I think the performances he has given have warranted the contract that he has been given and I think all the fans are going to be absolutely ecstatic to have a man of his stature and experience in the team going forward.
“I am sure the manager is too, because Gareth was absolutely pivotal to what we did last year.”
