Ian Ayre is expecting more transfer activity at Anfield as Liverpool look to bolster their squad following the sale of Luis Suarez.

The Reds have already spent just less than £40m to sign Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Emre Can this summer as Brendan Rodgers prepares his side for their return to the Champions League.

Dejan Lovren, Lazar Markovic, Divock Origi and Wilfried Bony have all been touted as targets for the Merseyside club in recent weeks.

And Liverpool chief executive insists that the club are poised to continue adding to their squad ahead of the 2014-15 campaign after agreeing to sell Suarez to Barcelona last week.

“It’s all about building and progress. We’ll aim to continue that throughout the summer,” Ayre told the Liverpool Echo.

“We’ve obviously sold Luis, but we’ve had a busy few weeks with players arriving as well.”
