Lille coach Rene Girard has dealt Liverpool a blow by claiming that Divock Origi will stay at the club this summer.
The Reds were thought to be close to agreeing a £9.8m deal to sign the 19-year-old, although Tottenham Hotspur have also been credited with an interest in recent days.
But the Belgium international will not be leaving the Ligue 1 club ahead of next season, according to coach Girard.
“Divock Origi will be here [at Lille] this season,” said Girard.
Origi scored five goals in 30 Ligue 1 appearances for Lille last season.
Girard also admitted that he is “less certain” about the future of ex-Chelsea man Salomon Kalou, who has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs this summer.
“We’re less certain about Salomon Kalou but for now he is at Lille,” he added.
