Liverpool transfers: ‘Lazar Markovic can be one of world’s best’
Liverpool transfers: Avram Grand describes Lazar Markovic as one of the most promising youngster in the world
Avram Grant has described Liverpool target Lazar Markovic as one of the best young talents in world football.
The Reds are understood to be closing in on a £20m deal for the Benfica forward, who moved to the Portuguese club from Partizan Belgrade last summer.
The 20-year-old scored five goals in 26 league games for Benfica last season and is rated as one of Serbia’s top prospects after helping his side win the league last season.
And former Chelsea boss Grant has told Liverpool fans that Markovic has the potential to become a world superstar.
Grant said: “I can say that apart from Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, Markovic is one of the best talents I’ve ever seen at 19 years of age.”
Grants comments come after Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic also heaped praise on the youngster.
“He has such massive potential that if he changed his attitude in training he could be one of Europe’s best players in his position,” said Matic.
“But he’s young, he’ll mature, and then nobody will be able to stop him!”
