Liverpool transfers: ‘Reds set to strengthen across the board’
Liverpool transfers: Christian Purslow is expecting the Reds to bolster their squad significantly this summer
Former Liverpool managing director Christian Purslow is expecting the Reds to uses the funds generated by the sale of Luis Suarez to strengthen all areas of their squad.
The Merseyside outfit confirmed the £20m signing of Serbia winger Lazar Markovic on Tuesday following the arrivals of Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Emre Can earlier in the summer.
The squad will be strengthened across the board
And Purslow is expecting there to be plenty more arrivals at Anfield following Suarez’s transfer for a reported £75m fee.
“It was inevitable that Luis Suarez was going to leave Liverpool, even before the bite incident at the World Cup,” Purslow told talkSPORT.
“I’m sure the player was looking to move this summer to Spain and Liverpool have planned around that.
“Liverpool will have made a £50million profit on Suarez. I’d say that was good for everybody.
“Replacing his goals will be difficult but it’s a hell of a lot of money to reinvest in the team though. The squad will be strengthened across the board and that’s a good thing.”
