Liverpool transfers: Reds warned about Dejan Lovren fee
Ronald Koeman warns Liverpool that Dejan Lovren will not be allowed to leave Southampton on the cheap
Ronald Koeman has told Liverpool that Dejan Lovren will not be allowed to leave Southampton this summer for anything less than a “top price”.
Southampton have already sold Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert to the Anfield club for a combined fee of £29m this summer.
The south coast club rejected a £20m bid for Lovren from Liverpool earlier this month but the Croatian subsequently attempted to force the move through by declaring that his “head was already at Liverpool”.
If he leaves, he will only go for a top price
Now, Southampton boss Koeman has admitted his disappointment at Lovren’s comments and insisted that the 25-year-old will not be allowed to leave St Mary’s on the cheap.
“A player shouldn’t say something like that, it’s not very proper,” Koeman told Fox Sports.
“We just have to wait how it develops. For now, Dejan can still play with us. I don’t want to lose him but, if he leaves, he will only go for a top price.”
