Liverpool transfers: Xherdan Shaqiri plays down speculation
Xherdan Shaqiri moves to play down speculation about his future by insisting that plans to stay at Bayern
Xherdan Shaqiri has moved to play down the speculation about his future by insisting that plans to stay at Bayern Munich.
The Reds were thought to be close to securing a £15m deal for the 22-year-old winger as Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his attacking options following the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona this month.
Shaqiri has also been touted as a target for Serie A side Juventus in recent days.
However, the Switzerland international has taken to his Facebook page to distance himself from reports linking him with a move away from Bayern.
“I would like to give my view on the rumours,” Shaqiri said on Facebook. “As you all know, I am currently on holiday, so I am not concerning myself with other clubs, nor do I speak to any journalists.
“My contract with Bayern runs until 2016. My advisors are in regular contact with the people in charge at Bayern, which is why there is no reason for speculation.”
Shaqiri scored six goals in 17 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern Munich last season.
