Man United legend backs Louis van Gaal to secure top-four finish

Manchester United legend Denis Law is confident that Louis van Gaal will guide the Red Devils back into the Champions League

Denis Law has confidently declared that Louis van Gaal will guide Manchester United into the Champions League this season.

The Dutch manager took charge of the Red Devils following the Netherlands’s World Cup campaign after signing a three-year deal to become the new United boss in May.

One of the main things now is to get into the Champions League and I am sure that will be achieved. I don’t see anything else

Van Gaal has already made his mark at the 20-time English champions, too, masterminding a 7-0 friendly win against MLS outfit LA Galaxy.

And United legend Law is in no doubt that the 62-year-old former Barcelona manager will achieve success at Old Trafford.

“I think we’re all looking forward to him coming as his pedigree is just fantastic really,” Law is quoted as saying.

“Sir Matt was the first man to really take English football into Europe. And now Louis has to take United back in.

“One of the main things now is to get into the Champions League and I am sure that will be achieved. I don’t see anything else.

“It will be a difficult job of course but he will know the players he requires.

“I’ve never been manager so I don’t know so much about that scene. But I just know he will do it.

“He’ll see where there is a possible weakness and I am sure with his pedigree, at all the clubs he’s been at, that will achieved in a short space of time.”
