Juventus would struggle to find a replacement for Arturo Vidal if the Chilean joins Manchester United, according to Alessio Tacchinardi.

The Chile international, who scored 11 Serie A goals last season, has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League since the World Cup finished.

United were thought to be leading the race to sign the 27-year-old midfielder, whilst Arsenal and Liverpool have also been touted as potential destinations.

And former Juventus star Tacchinardi stressed the Chile international’s importance to the reigning Serie A champions.

“The Chilean has proven himself to be almost irreplaceable,” Tacchinardi told Goal.

“He is the true leader on the field, with the ability to construct the play but also destroy it through his dynamism, strength and physical explosiveness.

“Today he has no equal. When I am choosing players for my perfect squad, I look not only for leaders but also for plenty of goals, tactical balance and spirit.

“In short, he is an athlete and an incredible footballer. He is my favourite player.”

Vidal has won three successive Serie A titles since moving to Turin from Bayer Leverkusen in 2011.
