Manchester United will wrap up a deal to sign Arturo Vidal from Juventus next month, according to a Fifa-registered agent.

Reports this week have claimed that the Red Devils are poised to make a £42.5m bid for the Chile midfielder as Louis van Gaal looks to bolster his squad ahead of the new season.

The 27-year-old has emerged as United’s top summer target in recent days following the signings of Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera.

Now, Giulio Tedeschi – who Spanish media says works on deals across European football – claims that the transfer will be pushed through in the coming weeks.

“The English team is the closest to gaining the services of Vidal and [he will] be with them on the second week of August,” Tedeschi told Cadena Deporte.

Vidal has been one of the key members of Juventus’s all-conquering side in Serie A, scoring 11 goals and making five assists in 32 top-flight appearances last season.

He has won three Serie A titles since joining Juventus from Bayer Leverkusen.
