Bebe admits the chance to join Benfica is a “great opportunity” amid reports the Portuguese forward will leave Manchester United.

The 24-year-old has been a Red Devils flop since moving to Old Trafford from Portuguese minnows Vitória de Guimarães in 2010.

This would be a great opportunity for me. Maybe I could play more and they could count on me

Bebe, who has six Portugal Under-21 caps, has been sent on loan to Besiktas, Rio Ave and Paços de Ferreira in recent seasons.

Europa League runners-up Benfica are rumoured to be ready to end the forward’s United nightmare in the current transfer window.

And Bebe, who was the penultimate signing of the Sir Alex Ferguson era, expressed his interest in a move to the Portuguese champions.

“I think it would be a good opportunity for me,” Bebe told Antena 1.

“I’ll now wait for my agent to sort it out. If it’s true or not, he will certainly know better than me.

“Of course, this would be a great opportunity for me. Maybe I could play more and they could count on me. I think it would be a unique opportunity.”

Bebe has made six appearances for United since moving to Old Trafford.
