Man United transfers: PSV deny offers for Memphis Depay
Man United transfers: PSV Eindhoven say they have not received any official offers for Memphis Depay this summer
PSV Eindhoven have not yet received an offer from Manchester United for Memphis Depay, manager Phillip Cocu has confirmed.
The 20-year-old Netherlands international has been touted as a potential target for new Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal as he looks to bolster his midfield options ahead his first campaign in charge at Old Trafford.
There have been no contacts, and he has a contract with PSV
However, Cocu has denied that there has been any official approach from United and is expecting the winger to stay at PSV for at least another season.
“There have been no contacts, and he has a contract with PSV [until 2017], thus let’s not get ahead of ourselves,” Cocu told Voetbal International.
“He has only one full season behind him. I think you need a certain base to take the next step and that is independent of the qualities that a person has. Therefore, he must stay at PSV for at least a year.”
Speaking last month, the player himself admitted that he had heard about the reported interest in his services from the Premier League.
“Of course I’ve read that Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are interested,” Depay told Algemeen Dagblad. “But no more than that.
“I’ll see later. My agent Kees Ploegsma is here [in Brazil] too, but we are not talking about that kind of stuff. That is for after the World Cup.”
