Man United transfers: ‘Red Devils should swoop for £20m Sami Khedira’
Man United transfers: Ray Wilkins urges Manchester United to consider a bid for Sami Khedira this summer
Ray Wilkins has urged Manchester United to consider a bid for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira this summer.
The Germany international’s future has been a source of constant speculation in recent weeks as he enters the final year of his contract in Spain.
Arsenal and Chelsea are both said to be keen on signing the 27-year-old, but Wilkins feels that the Red Devils should look into a bid for the World Cup winner.
I don’t think Manchester United should worry about winning anything next year

“Khedira’s out there,” Wilkins told Sky Sports News. “He [Louis van Gaal] has seen a lot of Khedira and the figure of £20m almost seems derogatory for the type of player he is and the class that he is.
“He’s the type of player they should be going for.”
Former Chelsea midfielder Wilkins doesn’t believe that United should be aiming to win silverware in Van Gaal’s first season in charge.
“What he’s brought in is very good potential – Ander Herrera from Bilbao and Luke Shaw from Southampton,” he said.
“They are potentially wonderfully-gifted footballers but it’s potential. You look at the other side of the coin, with Jose Mourinho; he brings in players who are established and have already won.
“I don’t think he can bring in the players that he really wants to in this window.
“I don’t think Manchester United should worry about winning anything next year, just qualifying for the Champions League is where they want to be.”
