Man United transfers: Red Devils told Wesley Sneijder will cost £16m
Man United transfers: The Red Devils are told that Wesley Sneijder would cost them £16m this summer by Galatasaray
Manchester United have been told that they will need to splash out £16m if they want to sign Wesley Sneijder from Galatasaray this summer.
The Netherlands star has long been touted as a target for the Red Devils, speculation which has heightened following Louis van Gaal’s appointment as the club’s new manager.
He is one of the biggest players for the Netherlands and Galatasaray
The 30-year-old recently said that he would have to consider joining United should Van Gaal opt to try and bring the midfielder to Old Trafford.
And Galatasaray president Unal Aysal has confirmed that Sneijder has a buyout clause of £16m in his contract with the Turkish club.
“Wesley Sneijder has a release clause set at €20m (£16m),” said Aysal. “Any team that give us that money and he wants to go, we can’t keep him. Legally speaking, we have no right.”
However, new Galatasaray boss Cesare Prandelli underlined his desire to keep hold of the former Inter Milan star.
“He is one of the biggest players for the Netherlands and Galatasaray,” said Prandelli.
“I like this type of player, who have character and can be silent leaders, like Andrea Pirlo.
“I hope to have that kind of player this season.”
