Jamie Carragher has warned Liverpool that Manchester United will be a threat next season.

The Reds soared past their bitter rivals last term as Brendan Rodgers’s side finished in second place and a staggering 20 points ahead of the 2013 Premier League champions.

The Liverpool manager benefitted from spending extra time with his squad on the training ground due to their absence from European club competitions, a luxury which Louis van Gaal will have this season.

And former Reds defender Carragher, who was denied a league winner’s medal after United finished four points ahead of Liverpool in 2009, expects the Red Devils to challenge for silverware with no Champions League or Europe League providing a distraction.
