Oscar should be playing in Neymar’s position, says Chelsea manager
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says Oscar is playing in a position for Brazil where "Oscar is not Oscar"
Jose Mourinho believes Brazil have been playing Oscar out-of-position at the World Cup and is urging Luiz Felipe Scolari to use the Chelsea star to fill Neymar’s void.
The 22-year-old has struggled to impress at the World Cup since producing a match-winning performance in a 3-1 victory over Croatia in their Group A opener last month.
Oscar is playing now in a position where Oscar is not OscarE
Oscar scored eight goals and made two assists in 33 Premier League appearances last season as Mourinho largely played the Brazilian behind Samuel Eto’o or Fernando Torres.
Brazil boss Scolari has been playing Oscar on the wing, but Mourinho feels with Neymar injured, the former Blues manager must switch the Chelsea star into the centre against Germany on Tuesday night.
“It depends always what the coach has in his mind,” Mourinho told Yahoo. “It also depends on the strategy the coach has for the game – what is the game plan?
“I think Oscar is playing now in a position where Oscar is not Oscar, and the position where Oscar is Oscar is the position where Neymar is playing now.
“Oscar was pushed to the right side for Neymar to play in that position with freedom behind the striker and that is the position where Oscar likes more to play.
“At the same time, Willian is a better player coming from the sides. In my opinion I would go with Oscar as a No. 10 and Willian coming from the side.”
